Element 1 - Single Operator Camera and Lighting
* Cameras, Mounts and Tripods
* Choice of Lenses for cameras with detachable lens
* Iris, Focus, Zoom and Doublers
* Lens Performance, Back Focus
* Why manual Auto-function switch-off !
* Shooting Methods, Framing, Perspective and Depth of Field
* Basic Lighting - theory to practice
* Lights and Reflectors for Location Shooting
* Mixed Lighting and Colour Temperature in practice
* Creating Genre/Style with Lenses, Light and Colour
* Safe Working Practice and outline of Risk Assessment.
Element 2 - Single Operator Sound Recording
* Understanding Microphones - differing types; applications and limitations
* Audio Facilities within the Camcorder; monitoring and control systems
* Sound with Vision - Recording for a flexible edit
* Sound Recording techniques - Channels, Radio mic ops, Mics & Sound quality
* Recording for the edit - Time-Code systems and peripherals.
Element 3 - Practical Shooting Methods
* A series of exercises are performed and recorded with the tutor, covering fundamental tasks met in practice
* Part of the time is devoted to shooting sequences, considering 'shooting with a view to editing'
* Recorded material will be viewed and criticised by the tutor, but time does not allow for actual editing within the two days.
