Inspired by the countryside, gardens, urban wildlife, textile patterns and children's book illustration; Smashing Chintz mosaics are made from broken patterned crockery reassembled to form birds, rabbits, cows and other creatures. Sometimes no 'smashing' is involved and the old china plates are used whole as the background - a 'floral backdrop' for the mosaic fauna. Janine would like to explore the use of laser cutting equipment to develop new Smashing Chintz products.
